FAQ
I would like to get involved on stage - can I join you?
Absolutely! Whether you're experienced to the stage or brand new, we always welcome new participants to the company.
Do I need to have done anything on stage before to be able to participate?
Not at all! Swanage Drama Company welcomes individuals who are new to the stage or are seasoned performers.
I want to help, but I don't want to be on stage?
That's not a problem! Swanage Drama Company greatly values those willing to support behind the scenes. Whether you’re interested in costume or props, set building or backstage crew there's always room to help, and it’s a vital part of staging a successful show
My child would like to join the pantomimes - how old do they have to be to join?
Children aged 8 and above are able to join us for our productions
When do you hold auditions and where are they advertised?
Auditions for our January pantomime typically take place in September. Summer show auditions vary in terms of dates. All audition details are published either on our Facebook or Instagram pages, or on our website under the upcoming productions page.
Do I need to prepare anything for the auditions?
Preparation requirements can vary between productions. When auditions are announced, we will advise whether anything needs to be prepared in advance.
Do I have to pay to join?
Yes, we ask all cast members to pay a show fee, however we aim to keep this as low as possible. The fee goes towards the costs of costumes, any set hires etc.
How often do you rehearse?
Our chorus rehearsals are on a Sunday 2pm-4pm, and principals rehearse on a Tuesday and Thursday 7pm-9pm (approx). Then there will be additional rehearsals closer to show dates.
Where do you rehearse?
Rehearsals are mainly at the Swanage Musical Theatre Company's hall in Swanage. As show week commences, rehearsals relocate to The Mowlem Theatre to familiarise performers with the venue and the staging.
Why cant I access the SDC cast page on your website?
This page is for members of our cast and company only and has rehearsal and show information on it as well as any messages from the director. If you are a cast member and have not received the password then please either send us a message or speak to someone at rehearsals to obtain it for access.
